
IT hiring expectations continue to rise at medium-size businesses—24 percent of IT decision makers anticipate hiring additional IT staff in the next six months, up three percentage points since the beginning of 2010. Although IT decision makers at medium-size companies are growing somewhat more confident about IT hiring, overall optimism in this sector experienced some set-backs. The overall CDW IT Monitor index among IT decision makers at medium-size businesses decreased two percentage points to 75, the lowest score so far in 2010.
Additional medium-size business highlights from the June CDW IT Monitor include:
- Almost one in four (24 percent) of IT decision makers at medium-size corporations expect an increase in IT budgets, up three percentage points from June 2009.
- Eighty-one percent of IT decision makers at medium-size companies anticipate investing in new hardware, down three percentage points since the last IT Monitor. However, this figure is still seven percentage points higher than one year ago.
- Eighty-four percent of corporate IT decision makers at medium-size businesses anticipate replacing or installing software in the next six months, down four percentage points since the beginning of 2010.
- More than three out of four (78 percent) of IT decision makers at medium-size businesses feel that investment in IT infrastructure is beneficial to their employer’s efficiency and performance, down four percentage points since the last IT Monitor.
