Despite fears of a double-dip recession, almost half (49 percent) of corporate IT decision makers anticipate increased IT budgets heading into the second half of the year, which is up nine percentage points since June 2009. According to the latest CDW IT Monitor, a bimonthly indicator that tracks the direction and momentum of the U.S. IT marketplace, confidence among IT decision makers at corporations and government organizations held steady at 72 for the fourth consecutive reading.

Additional corporate sector highlights from the June CDW IT Monitor include:
  • Twenty-two percent of corporate IT decision makers expect to hire additional IT staff in the next six months, up four percentage points from June 2009.
  • More than two-thirds (67 percent) of corporate IT decision makers expect to replace or install hardware in the next six months.
  • Although optimism regarding the replacement or installation of software has declined across all corporate segments since April 2010, 73 percent of corporate IT decision makers anticipate purchasing additional software in the next six months, which is five percentage points higher than this time last year.
  • Almost three out of four (73 percent) of corporate IT decision makers believe investment in IT is beneficial to the performance and efficiency of their organization, up seven percentage points since June 2009.
